Why a Business Development Group for Executives?

If you are an Executive Business Development, this blog is for you.
Why this group? I have observed that the business development is unknown field. The books, literatures, conferences covering or related to the business development challenges and specificities are rare or, at least, sporadic. As well, we don’t have a professional group where we can share our experience and day-to-day challenges.
For instance: How to balance client expectation versus corporate priorities, how to clarify and simplify the complexity of today’s market. How to prepare one-on-one meetings. How to lead teams when clients are continuously changing their needs. How to remodel strategies when the competition is constantly influx and evolving.

What kind of business are we talking about here?
This primarily concerns the selling of major and complex projects, where the clients are institutions, government and/or multibillion-dollar corporations. Although the technical deliverables may be known to some extent, the actual final deliverables may still be vague and can only be determined later on the project life cycle as the context is continuously changing and the scope is constantly evolving.
For example: O&G, major infrastructures, transportation and energy projects.

What kind of information may we share?
Given that necessary precautions must be taken, some information should remain confidential.
We may share documents, websites, white papers, strategic thinking on various countries, cultures, real life experience and advice. Some names, person or recognised circumstances may be useful not to mention.
You may ask question or advice. You may share advice and specific experience. The group will be successful when it is useful.

You may follow the group via LinkedIn
